PRATICAL – Test day howlers

  • PDF

The practical driving test day howlers are the biggest mistakes you could make on the test date, make sure you try your level best not commit any of the mistakes, see a list of the following you can do to prevent anything happening:

  1. Think Positively - When you get up in the morning, tell yourself you are going to pass and vision yourself passing. Take that feeling with you on your practice driving test and the real thing itself.

  2. Dress Comfotably - Wearing the wrong clothes that may make you agitated won't help things at all (including shoes)

  3. Arrive in Planty of Time - You should be at the test centre at least 10 minutes before your test time, why not try 15 minutes instead. If you are late your test will be cancelled and you will loose your fees.

  4. Relax - Before the test, take a few deep breaths and remember, try not to panic, that will show in your driving. Clench and then relax those muscles to relieve tension.

  5. Examiners Instructions - The last thing you want to do is misunderstand the examiner, listen to his / her instructions carefully and ask for clarification if needs be but don't change from what you was doing before they asked.

  6. Decisions - if you think you have made a decision that the examiner will misjudge, clarify your decision briefly to the examiner whilst you are stiull driving.
  7. New situations - If you come across a new situation you are unsure about, ask the examiner or approach the situation with caution.

  8. Food - Make sure you eat a good breakfast or lunch before your test, really important you do this before driving

  9. Toilet Breaks - Make sure you visit the loo before stepping into the car, the last thing you want is to be fidgeting during the test.

  10. Smooth Drive - Make it a smooth drive for yourself and one that the examiner will enjoy too.

Good Luck!
