The S.A.M.E programme is a 4 week learning experience that is essence makes the S.A.M.E Academy what it is. Each week covers each aspect of the title S.A.M.E, Safety, Awareness, Mentoring and Education. We take the young people through a journey and experience and by the end of the 4 weeks they should be in a position to pass on all or some of what they have learnt to peers and act on it themselves. Each week covers discussion and activities around the following:
WEEK 1 – SAFETY
- The importance of seatbelts
- The speed limits
- Music distractions
- Incident vs. Collision?
- Hazard Perception
WEEK 2 – AWARENESS
- Facts & Figures
- What the government is planning?
- Where the young people stand?
- Insurance companies
- Drink and Drug driving
- Driving Schools (API & DSA)
WEEK 3 – MENTORING
- Developing a positive road user and passenger attitude
- Assesment of Risk
- Empowerment and Decision making
- How can YOU create ripple positivity?
- Why do we what we do?
WEEK 4 – EDUCATION
- The importance of vehicle maintenance
- Employability
- Safe Road user agreement
- The financial burden (Where does it lie?)
We deliver the programme is schools, colleges, youth clubs, hostels and pretty much anywhere where new, young and next generation drivers are present.
