Well, What is S.A.M.E?

S.A.M.E is an acronym for: 

Safety

Awareness

Mentoring

Education

Welcome to the S.A.M.E (Safety Awareness Mentoring Education) Academy. The S.A.M.E Academy is an innovative organisation owned by DriversEdgeUK which aims to dramatically reduce the instances of road traffic accidents and driving related crimes in the UK within young people (14-21 years old). As you may know, young people are the most at risk road user with more than 2 of every 5 deaths involving young drivers. The packages consists of a 4 week programme, workshops and seminars designed to develop the mind sets and attitudes of young drivers and passengers (separate to the novice factor), highlight the key causes of road traffic collisions as well as provide the awareness needed to spot hazardous situations applicable to the young. The programme lasts for four weeks (1 hour per week) and a one of hour long seminar and workshops.

The main aims & objectives of the S.A.M.E Academy include:

  • To change behavioural trends in young drivers across the UK to behind the wheel.
  • To raise aspirations and the achievements of young people, through the popular topic of driving.
  • Raising awareness on the social and health Impact of dangerous driving and irresponsible behaviours.
  • To improve personal development and improve self esteems issues within young people.

Each seminar and programme is tailored dependant on the young people attending. We have seminars at the following levels

Gear 1: 14 – 16 year olds – Schools

Gear 2: 17 – 19 year olds – Colleges & Sixth forms

Gear 3: 20 and above – Universities

Generic: Youth Clubs, Foyers, Probation Services, Housing Associations and Youth Offending Services.
